Sri Lankan skilled workers are seeing increased demand in Bahrain, according to Koshala Wickramasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE). Speaking at a networking session organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Bahrain, Wickramasinghe emphasized the Bureau’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of migrant workers.Mr. Wickramasinghe was in Bahrain on an official visit to engage in discussions with Bahraini authorities, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation on labor migration and enhance the welfare and protection of Sri Lankan workers residing there.
“The Bureau is fully committed to safeguarding the rights and dignity of our migrant workforce,” Mr. Wickramasinghe stated. He also acknowledged the vital role played by recruitment agencies in Bahrain in supporting ethical employment practices and fostering positive labor relations.
Also addressing the gathering, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Bahrain, Ms. Shanika Dissanayake, underscored the importance of promoting skilled labor migration as part of Sri Lanka’s broader strategy to grow its skilled workforce and boost overseas employment prospects.
The session featured in-depth discussions on improving the recruitment process, ensuring ethical recruitment practices, and strengthening mechanisms to protect and support Sri Lankan workers in Bahrain.The SLBFE continues to engage with foreign partners and stakeholders to enhance job opportunities while prioritizing the welfare of Sri Lankan migrant workers across the globe.
