A high-level delegation from the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), headed by Chairman Mr. Koshala Wickramasinghe, departed for Saudi Arabia today (09 May) to take part in a key pre-employment promotion initiative aligned with the Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 development program.

The mission, taking place from May 10 to 16 in Riyadh and Dammam, aims to tap into the vast employment opportunities emerging as Saudi Arabia undergoes rapid modernization and economic diversification. Vision 2030, the country’s national transformation blueprint, is reshaping its economic landscape by investing heavily in sectors such as construction, healthcare, hospitality, finance, and technology. These efforts are expected to generate thousands of new job openings, many of which will be filled by skilled foreign workers.

Positioning Sri Lanka to benefit from this employment boom, the SLBFE delegation will meet with Saudi employment authorities, business leaders, and key stakeholders to promote the capabilities of Sri Lankan professionals. The team will also work to establish formal partnerships through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

“Our mission is to open doors for high-paying, dignified employment abroad,” said Chairman Wickramasinghe. “We are ensuring that all professional workers across Sri Lanka—whether from urban centers or remote villages—are given equal consideration. It’s about casting a wide net to catch every deserving talent.”

He emphasized that Sri Lanka’s workforce, which includes engineers, Nurses, healthcare workers, Financial and skilled tradespeople, is well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to Saudi Arabia’s evolving economy. This promotional tour is seen as a pivotal step not only in securing immediate job opportunities but also in forging sustainable, long-term employment pathways for Sri Lankans in the global labor market. The initiative is being organized in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh, with participation from 17 licensed foreign employment agencies, including Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency Private Limited.
