SLBFE was able to conduct a raid against a licensed foreign employment agency who has involved in sending  Sri Lankans for foreign universities for higher education. According to information revealed at the investigation the agency was involved in sending Sri Lankans to the universities of Australia, New Zealand, India and countries of Europe.

Licensee of foreign employment agency namely M/S. Telefax Lanka of 183 - C, 4 th Floor, Colombo Road, Kurunegala has used the same name and style of the agency for carrying on business of sending Sri Lankans for foreign universities for highter education.

Also the officers have found hand bills, notice boards(cutout) and application in which the address of the foreign employment agency was used. Usually licensees of the foreign employment agencies are not authorized to carry on any other business at any other place other than the foreign employment business at the respective premises. Hence this is considered as violating the provisions of Foreign Employment Act.

It has been reported from several places of the island that Sri Lankans are illegally sent for foreign universities pretending that such agencies carry on business of foreign employment. Accordingly the General Manager of SLBFE has further instructed to proceed with legal action  against the licensee of the foreign employment agency for violating of the provisions of the Act.
