It is with great pleasure that I warmly welcome you to the website of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), the umbrella organization responsible for the overall management, operations and regulating of the foreign employment business in Sri Lanka. I am indeed proud to be the Minister in charge of Foreign Employment which comes under the purview of the Ministry of External Affairs, the source which generates the highest net foreign exchange income to the national economy of this country.
The phenomenon of international migration has proved to be a great social and economic factor in the world order today, as an estimated 200 million people are living outside their national borders.
It is also significant to note that 50% or 100 million of them are said to be economic migrants or labour migrants.
